Refugee Integration and Support Program

The Beaconsfield Refugee Integration and Support Program helps to connect newly arrived refugees with resources, support, and community that will help them thrive. The refugee integration and support program provides not only much needed material aid to help newly arrived refugees make a life here, but also helps them to find long-term networks and community.

What We Provide

Community: We facilitate opportunities for newcomers to build networks and find long-lasting community. BUC has become a spiritual and community home for many newcomer families over the past several years, and provides a place where they can connect with other newcomers in Montreal, as well as with the wider Beaconsfield United Church community. Community events and programs include movie nights, an annual picnic, African Kitchen Dinners, and more.
Education: The Refugee Integration and Support Programs, along with its sub-initiatives, the Womens Collective and Solid Rock Mens and Interfaith Ministry, regularly hosts educational workshops and seminars on topics including mental health, nutrition and healthy living, parenting, and navigating the refugee claims process. We also offer French classes, and a bilingual children's lending library.
Food Support: We help to provide families with periodic food packages, including staples and special foods familiar to Nigerians.
Material Needs: We collect donations of gently used furniture, appliances, clothing and toys and distribute them to families who need them.
For more information about any of these resources and programs, please contact [email protected]

Support the program

The Refugee Integration and Support program is made possible in large part by grants and by the support of individuals and churches. You can support the vital work of the Refugee Integration and Support Program with monetary donations (specify that you would like your donation to go towards the BUC-RISP), or donations of furniture, appliances, household goods, clothing, and toys. If you have items to donate, or are interesting in collecting items from your community, please call or email the church office. Thank you!
